this photo is painful for me...here i am receiving the news that my aquatic friend passed away last night. clearly i was at a loss for words. inconsolable.

we had been together for almost 3 years. we kept each other company when the fam was on vacations and we even made the move together to the new house in july. his bowl was strapped in the front seat with the seatbelt. i was in the carrier. our friendship was unlike any other cat/fish relationship. there was very little he could do in the way of fun since he lived in a bowl. but we understood each other. he shared his water with me. he danced for his food and entertained us all. if i could drive a car, i would go get another fish.

in lieu of flowers, just bring me something.

rest in peace, captain burrito.

if i couldn't read teeny tiny print anymore on things like, say...

tubes of lipgloss
mascara
dosages on the bottles of things like extra-strength tylenol

i would sport a pair of these. (diggin' the hat too)

let me clear my throat.

been a busy week. hanging out here and traveling back to my old hood a few times. last night they had to chase me to catch me. i'm home today but this is what i am gonna do the next time someone chases me up the street. they know who's boss.

if i had a pinterest account, i would not be obsessed and i would only have one pin board. and it would have photos of potential friends. here are some i would consider:

walk this way

this is how i looked as i was walking out the door on wednesday morning....nonchalant...eyes fixed so that no one would suspect or notice my purposeful gait. i'm good.

yes, this is what i did when everyone left me at home alone ...all day...for the first time since we have moved. somehow i sensed that it was coming (school is starting again) so i made a run for it when i went out for my morning...you know. this time i was gone for more than 24 hours. left them all alone last night. took them 4 trips to find me this time.

so if you need to make a point, this is what i would do. i am tired tonight.

the 411 (special back to school edition)

it's back to school time. here are my top 5 pieces of advice for keepin' it real at school this year:

1. just say "no". (or "yes".)

2. be yourself (if you have to be.)

3. remember that you are a winner. (even if you let your parents down.)

4. ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

5. and let's be honest, nobody likes an overachiever. (70 is a passing grade.)
