deck the halls

i would collapse from exhaustion if i had to compulsively make a crock pot of chili, clean a house, do laundry, wrap presents, and decorate for christmas...on a sunday.

we had a photo shoot the other night for our family christmas card. if i had been the one in charge, i would have made sure that this was a convenient time for everyone involved. and no one would have been abruptly apprehended for the shoot.

the weekend update with p. wayne moore

october was my birthday month so i took some time off to spread my wings and do a little thinking. and a little more traveling during the day. a little me time. it has been liberating.

i have acquired a new friend. his name is lieutenant queso.

we are still getting acquainted.

now that the holidays are officially upon us, i will try to be more attentive to my fans. stay tuned...

in da club

i would have my cake and eat it too, if i could. yesterday was my 4th birthday. (the photo above is of me on my 2nd birthday...they dressed me up in this ridiculous costume. just because my birthday is in october does not necessarily mean that i like to dress up or that i celebrate all things "halloween".)

i had lots of birthday wishes...one special one in particular that i cannot mention. (i was sworn to secrecy by the rev.) i appreciate them all.

i have had so much going on these past few weeks. am a regular traveler to and from my old hood now. they finally figured out that i will come back. this has been a load off of my plate. now i don't have to spend my time plotting a quick get away or run from anybody when they come to get me. i have to admit that i do like a car ride, but on my terms.

this year i hid in the bed to avoid any cute costumes that were possibly awaiting me.

on the city's southern border, reared against the sky...

if i had the chance to board somewhere, it would probably be on pear street. but if school had to a part of the boarding, i would definitely include darlington school on my list of prospective places to visit. today, i rode there in the car to pick up wil from crew practice.

here i am checking out the architecture of this southern boarding/day school.

after i took in the beauty of the place, i got tired of waiting for wil. so i started calling him.

if they offer rhythmic gymnastics at darlington, i'm so there.

well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance

last night was perfect weather. there was a chill in the air, a breeze was blowing in the trees, and the moon has just right. i was in rare form. on a night like that, what else was i supposed to do but return back to the old hood? i haven't been back over there to check on things in about a month. so as dusk turned to dark, i made my escape. and i stayed all night. i had friends to see and things to check up on over there. as predicted, my ride came for me around noon today.

here i am on the way back home...reflecting on my marvelous night.

in the the sweet by and by

i buried my dear friend, captain burrito, last friday evening. we had a small, intimate service for him and laid him to rest with some special mementos. here are a few dark photos.

knock knock knockin' on heaven's door

this photo is painful for me...here i am receiving the news that my aquatic friend passed away last night. clearly i was at a loss for words. inconsolable.

we had been together for almost 3 years. we kept each other company when the fam was on vacations and we even made the move together to the new house in july. his bowl was strapped in the front seat with the seatbelt. i was in the carrier. our friendship was unlike any other cat/fish relationship. there was very little he could do in the way of fun since he lived in a bowl. but we understood each other. he shared his water with me. he danced for his food and entertained us all. if i could drive a car, i would go get another fish.

in lieu of flowers, just bring me something.

been a busy week. hanging out here and traveling back to my old hood a few times. last night they had to chase me to catch me. i'm home today but this is what i am gonna do the next time someone chases me up the street. they know who's boss.

this is how i looked as i was walking out the door on wednesday morning....nonchalant...eyes fixed so that no one would suspect or notice my purposeful gait. i'm good.

yes, this is what i did when everyone left me at home alone ...all day...for the first time since we have moved. somehow i sensed that it was coming (school is starting again) so i made a run for it when i went out for my morning...you know. this time i was gone for more than 24 hours. left them all alone last night. took them 4 trips to find me this time.

so if you need to make a point, this is what i would do. i am tired tonight.

it's back to school time. here are my top 5 pieces of advice for keepin' it real at school this year:

1. just say "no". (or "yes".)

2. be yourself (if you have to be.)

3. remember that you are a winner. (even if you let your parents down.)

4. ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

5. and let's be honest, nobody likes an overachiever. (70 is a passing grade.)

i was photo of the week this week. seems my photo started a string of outrageous comments on facebook from fans that love me...and find themselves quite witty.

so here's a little nugget for you. let's not forget who the real star is in all of this. while all of my fans are appreciated (along with their clever wit), this is about me. not your "purrrfectly" funny anecdotes. don't forget it.

i guess if i had a fancy computer and could manipulate photos with all different kinds of effects, i would squeeze the life out of my pet too and force him to be still while i took photos in front of the giant screen...because they would be so darn cute!

emily likes to take funny photos with all of her friends. if she can trap me in her room, i am included in the session. i do let her get away with just about anything though. no one else can pick me up and me put on their shoulders like a fireman rescuing a dog or make me wear a hat, but em. after all, she is the one that found me at petland.

i went to see my friends yesterday and was picked up and brought back to my new home at midnight last night. the fun was just getting started over there. don't they realize if i can find my way over there, i can find my way back to my new habitat? when i'm ready.

i went back to my old hood today. i stayed all day until they came to get me in the car. i got in the back seat, like routine, and rode back to my new home. it's not that i'm not happy here. just still looking for friends.

a thankful heart is a happy heart

last night we had a photo shoot. i am so bored with this. they stalk me all the time. i am very photogenic. i know i should be grateful because i have quite the life. i was a wee kitten at pet land when emily spotted me. a few days later, i was rescued. i was so small that i rode in the cup holder in the car on the way home. i have moved several times since that day. now i have a new porch, up in the trees. i have gone back to my previous home several times to say goodbye in the past week or two. hoping to meet some new friends here soon. in the meantime, enjoy some photos from our shoot last night. i am thankful for my new home.
